Food Scientist (R&D)

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Develop prototypes for various food applications, including plant-based foods, processed meats, bakery items, dairy, ice cream, non-alcoholic beverages, sauces, and whipped toppings, using ingredient solutions to support customer projects and concepts.
- Plan and conduct independent technical research.
- Work independently to formulate products using Ashland ingredients in customer-specific applications (in English).
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for customers within our Food & Beverage Solutions portfolio.
- Identify development opportunities for Ashland ingredients within the customer base.
- Support sales and distributor team training with prototype demonstrations and presentations.
- Monitor the stability and quality of all new prototypes, considering appearance, sensory attributes, compatibility, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Support marketing activities by producing prototype samples for customer events, roadshows, and tradeshows.
- Participate in technical conferences and fairs, sharing knowledge and insights both internally and with customers.
- Manage day-to-day maintenance of laboratory equipment, housekeeping, and consumable replacements.
- Report to the Global Technical Director and share research findings internally.
Requirements:
- Minimum Master's degree in Food Science or a related field with 7 years of experience, or a Bachelor's degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
- Preferably 7+ years of experience in food development research or related fields.
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Familiarity with food safety and regulations.
- Experience with food analytical instruments in rheology and sensory analysis is preferred.
- Ability to conduct analysis tests at external locations such as collaborative university labs or food institutes.
- Strong problem-solving skills for customer troubleshooting with effective recommendations.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills in English.
