Job Summary: The Production Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the production process in a manufacturing environment. This role ensures that all products are produced efficiently, cost-effectively, and to the highest quality standards, while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Planning & Coordination:
- Plan and schedule production activities to meet customer demands and business objectives.
- Coordinate with other departments (e.g., procurement, logistics, quality control) to ensure smooth production flow.
- Ensure adequate staffing and resource allocation to meet production goals.
Team Management:
- Lead, supervise, and motivate production staff.
- Train, develop, and evaluate team members to optimize productivity.
- Maintain a safe and positive working environment, addressing any issues related to morale, performance, or behavior.
Quality Control & Process Improvement:
- Ensure production meets quality standards, specifications, and customer expectations.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives, such as lean manufacturing techniques, to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
- Identify and resolve production issues, bottlenecks, or quality concerns in a timely manner.
Inventory Management:
- Oversee inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods to avoid shortages or overstock.
- Work closely with the procurement department to ensure timely delivery of materials for production.
Budget and Cost Control:
- Develop and manage the production budget, ensuring cost efficiency.
- Monitor production costs and implement cost-cutting measures where appropriate without compromising product quality.
Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
- Monitor production operations to identify and eliminate safety hazards.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations and standards.
Reporting & Communication:
- Prepare and deliver regular reports on production performance, key performance indicators (KPIs), and any issues or risks.
- Communicate effectively with senior management and other departments to align production goals with company objectives.
Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting:
- Address and resolve any operational or technical problems that arise during the production process.
- Propose solutions for improving workflow, equipment, or processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, industrial engineering, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Min. 10 years of experience in production management, preferably in automotive manufacturing.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of production processes, quality control, and manufacturing technologies.
- Proficiency in production planning software or ERP systems.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
