Key Responsibilities:
- Oral Interpretation: Provide simultaneous or consecutive interpretation during meetings, video conferences, presentations, and other interactions between Chinese-speaking individuals and English-speaking participants.
- Document Translation: Translate written materials, including contracts, reports, emails, and other documents, ensuring high accuracy and consistency.
- Cultural Mediation: Act as a cultural bridge, ensuring that the intended meaning is correctly conveyed while considering the cultural context and idiomatic expressions.
- Support Communication: Assist internal and external parties in understanding key communications, helping to eliminate language barriers and ensure smooth business operations.
- Client Interaction: Interact with Chinese-speaking clients, ensuring all communications, whether written or oral, are translated accurately and professionally.
- Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding all sensitive or private information discussed or translated.
- Interpretation Quality Control: Ensure the quality of all interpretations and translations meet the company's standards and the expectations of clients and stakeholders.
- Special Projects: Assist with ad-hoc translation or interpretation projects as needed, such as helping in negotiations, interpreting at events, or providing translation for marketing materials.
Qualifications:
- Education: A degree in Translation, Interpretation, Linguistics, or related field is preferred.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) and English (oral and written). Knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
- Experience:
- Proven experience as an interpreter or translator, preferably in a business or corporate environment.
- Experience in simultaneous and consecutive interpretation is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with technical vocabulary related to [industry, e.g., legal, medical, finance, etc.] is a plus.
